About the Online Class
Join us for four Zoom sessions which dive into the sub-genre of mind-bending films—thought-provoking and reality-twisting films that captivate, confuse, and demand discussion. These are films that benefit from discussion (and repeated viewings), as each viewer picks up on unique details and interpretations that others might miss. This series is a chance to share your thoughts, hear diverse perspectives, and uncover new layers of meaning in these intricately crafted stories.
Among the films slated for discussion are:
Upstream Color (dir. Shane Carruth, 2013)
Enemy (dir. Denis Villeneuve, 2013)
Prisoners (dir. Denis Villeneuve, 2013)
The Prestige (dir. Christopher Nolan, 2006)
Inception (dir. Christopher Nolan, 2010)
Coherence (dir. James Ward Byrkit, 2013)
Triangle (dir. Christopher Smith, 2009)
Primer (dir. Shane Carruth, 2004)
Time Crimes (dir. Nacho Vigalondo, 2007)
Ex Machina (dir. Alex Garland, 2014)
Film selections may be modified based on participant suggestions.
