About the Program

California debut! Travel to the border of Colombia and Ecuador with Río Mira, a marimba supergroup named for the river that separates the two South American countries.

Led by marimba master Esteban Copete and Ecuadoran singer Karla Kanora, this ensemble of Afro-Latino musicians draws from the traditions of escaped slaves to create joyous, socially conscious music that celebrates self-realized liberation.

“There is nothing quaint or old-fashioned about this intriguing and enchanting band.”—The Guardian
