About the Program
Featuring film, food, and conversation, this multidisciplinary program highlights Mexico’s centuries-old culinary traditions and their impact on the United States. Led by USC food scholar Sarah Portnoy, we will watch a short documentary about ten Mexican elders and enjoy live food demos with three of the abuelitas (Spanish for “grandmothers”) featured in the film.
Enjoy a tasting of each dish and view a small exhibition that shares the abuelitas’ stories, Mexican culinary artifacts, and other objects that highlight the significance of Mexican cuisine.
