Whether you're a novice or experienced creative writer, this opportunity to explore short stories and poetry includes the beginning, development, and revision of at least one short story and two poems. We will work with published stories and poems to better understand elements of craft in these genres.

About the Class
Join Skirball creative writing instructor Lesley Hyatt for a special eight-week spring workshop designed to give writers the opportunity to explore short stories and poetry. Students will begin, develop, and revise at least one short story and two poems, while working with published stories and poems to better understand elements of craft in these genres. This course is suitable for all writers interested in revising and moving forward with their creative writing.
(4 weeks poetry, 4 weeks short story)
Instructor: Lesley Hyatt teaches writing and mindfulness to students of all ages. She holds an MFA in English and fiction writing and is the author of myriad essays, short stories, and poems. Hyatt received an Outstanding Instructor award for her work as a creative writing instructor at UMass, Amherst. She is a former Fulbright Scholar.
