Meet Annelise Pehr, the Administrative Assistant to the President and CEO, and the Executive Vice President. Annelise has been with the Skirball for one year and sat down with us to discuss some of her interests and tell us stories about her time here.
Q: Describe a Skirball event you had the opportunity to attend. What made it special for you?
A: The Hanukkah Festival is a truly unique and wonderful event. Hanukkah holds a special place in my heart because of the cherished family traditions I hold dear. It was heartwarming to see how Skirball has become an integral part of other families' celebrations, enriching their traditions just as it does mine.
Q: Tell us about a past or present exhibition that you enjoyed and why.
A: I have a vivid memory of visiting the Skirball as a child, particularly in 2008 for the Bob Dylan exhibit. Growing up listening to Bod Dylan with my parents, seeing an exhibit dedicated to his work left a lasting impression on me. Over fifteen years later, it's incredible to think the place I visited as a kid is now where I work. It feels like kismet!
Q: What's one activity you prioritize outside of the Skirball? How does it interact with the work you do here?
A: I'm passionate about learning and creating, which might sound vague, but it's true. I thrive on acquiring new skills. For instance, I've been teaching myself basic Japanese and recently spent six months creating a college survival guide for my cousin as a high school graduation gift. This enthusiasm for continuous learning directly influences my work. I approach my job with the same mindset, constantly seeking to improve my workflow and embrace opportunities for growth and development.
Q: Tell us about a coworker who has gone above and beyond to represent the Skirball in their work.
A: Susy Rosales, our CEO's Executive Assistant, is exceptional. She embodies our six essential values with her kindness, patience, and unparalleled attention to detail. Over the past year, her meticulous approach and dedication have taught me invaluable lessons.
Q: In the spirit of Noah’s Ark at the Skirball, which animal do you most identify with and why?
A: I'm definitely a cat. I love to observe and learn by watching others, and I'm endlessly curious!
