About the Program
There are few creative partnerships with a body of work as enduring and beloved as Rodgers and Hammerstein's. The duo left an undeniable mark on both the art of musical theater and American culture at-large with Broadway hits like Oklahoma!, Carousel, and The Sound of Music.
Learn about Rodgers and Hammerstein's rise to prominence, as well as the illustrious careers of Broadway pairs throughout history, including Lerner and Loewe (My Fair Lady, Brigadoon), Jones and Schmidt (The Fantasticks), and Adler and Ross (The Pajama Game, Damn Yankees). We'll also cover the Sherman Brothers, whose work on movie-musicals like Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has delighted audiences for more than fifty years.
