Classes

Autobiography, Memoir, or Fiction

Tuesdays, February 7–April 18, except March 21, 7:00–10:00 p.m. (10 sessions)

About the Program

In this dynamic writing workshop, offered in partnership with Otis College of Art and Design, uncover material from your own life experience to begin a memoir or work of fiction.

Through readings and workshop discussions, learn to mine your personal history for subject matter and transform this raw material into a story. Delve into the craft of writing, including how to invent and reinvent from memory, maintain perspective, render characters, construct dialogue, and deal with issues of truth and integrity. The finished work may be a personal essay, a short story, a novella, or chapters of a memoir or novel.

Please bring note-taking materials to class.

Instructor: Martha Fuller holds an MA in English literature from Claremont Graduate School and an MFA in creative photography from California State University, Fullerton. She has taught numerous courses in creative writing, literature, and photography.
